Weeks 21-22
I can feel life! I was finally able to feel Baby B move. I actually feel pregnant and am thriving off of each movement I feel. During these two weeks I realized that I needed to start preparing for birth. This came as somewhat of a shock. In my head I have always skipped this over and thought I would be pregnant then come home with a baby. I didn’t really think about birth, how to prepare, and how to become informed. I also developed a pregnancy style, since I was not able to squeeze into my regular clothes anymore.
Every once and a while I feel like I am all work and no play. When this happens I start fantasizing about buying a van and just driving away, with Joe and Zoey of course. Even though we had a trip to Wisconsin planned for the holidays Joe knew I was restless. One Saturday I woke up at my typical 6:00am and rolled over to ask Joe what we wanted to do today. He had a plan. Little did I know, he had the car packed for a winter beach day. We packed food, blankets & sweaters, beach chairs, books, music and Zoey and headed to the shore by 7:00am. The beach is about 3 hours away from our house. When we got there we walked the shore for hours. The beach was empty, peaceful, refreshing, and magical. The sun came out and it ended up being 70 degrees in the middle of December. We sat and watched the waves for hours. It was amazing! We headed back home around 5pm feeling calm and fulfilled.
Christmas is coming up and we planned to go home to Wisconsin for the first time in over a year. It made me a little nervous to travel with COVID but Joe and I decided to take the risk. I love every minute with my family and hoped to see some snow. These two weeks I have been loving the Christmas décor, packed gifts, took lots of baths, and listened to tons of Christmas music.
Weight: 156lb.
Symptoms: Acne still seems to be an issue, despite my best efforts. I have not had joint ligament pain since I was not going on log hikes. I was sleeping great, a little longer than normal. For the most part I felt good.
Workouts: Peloton had holiday music rides. I loved jamming out to Christmas music while riding the bike.
Food: I was not as hungry as I was the weeks prior. I had no particular cravings, but did not really want to eat after 6:30. Joe made me scrambled eggs almost every morning. I packed chicken salads for lunch and dinner was soup or chicken and roasted veggies.
Doctors Visits: None
Money Spent: My parents got us a giant splurge from our registry. This stroller was so pretty. I typically am pretty cost conscious but this was really the only stroller that was not Grey/Black. I love the Cream/Tan. It has a bassinet setting, car seat, and even has an attachment if we end up having more than one child later on in life.
Clothes- I ended up buying big sweaters and leggings to get me through winter as my work wardrobe. I found some shiny and textured leggings I felt were appropriate for work. All my sweaters were longer to cover my booty. I also was very particular about my leggings, getting a thick band without an elastic or seam on top is harder than it might seem. These Aerie leggings were recommended by my sister in law. They are hands down the most comfortable for my growing belly.
Sleep: I have been sleeping deep and waking up ready for the day. The pillow Joe got me has me snuggled into place. I have not been waking up in the morning for workouts, but instead started using the extra hour to sleep.
Our To Do List:
- Learn about actually giving birth
- Set goals for 2021
There are so many things I want to know. Did you buy maternity clothes or just bigger/looser clothes? When did you realize that birth is an event that will require recovery and some preparation? Did you find birthing classes helpful? What resources made you feel most prepared? Did you have a birth plan?
