Pregnancy

Weeks 13-16

Hello Second Trimester! It was time to get started on the nursery, think about my job options, settling in on a daycare, staying active, and making the registry. During this time I sat still and tried really hard to feel something, anything. This was a strange time for us as most days it seemed like we “forgot” I was pregnant. We no longer had a secret to keep. We felt like we knew what we needed to do, so we were not researching as much. We felt confident in our plans and let our minds focus on other things. This was a really fun time for us since it was October, we had beautiful weather to hike.

My work life became very hectic and burdensome around this time and I ended up focusing on that. My food intake and workouts took a back seat to my job. My sleep fell out of wack, I had stress come home with me, I was working incredibly long hours and started to worry more. Looking back I wish I would have remained focused on me. This prompted us to re-look at the budget and re-look at our options.

Weight: 145lb. Not much to note.

Symptoms: Nothing really. I could not feel a thing, which started to worry me toward the end of 16 weeks. So far my whole pregnancy I had barley gained weight, had no symptoms and although I tried I could not sense or feel anything. It made me question if everything was ok in there.

Workouts: The 75hard challenge was over. I gave myself a break and only worked out 2-3x a week. In addition we still walked Zoey every night. I still ran a little, but it was really dark and our neighborhood road randomly got really busy. I was having a hard time getting cardio in and trying to convince Joe to get me a Peloton. Also starting in the second trimester our provider didn’t want me to be laying on my back much anymore.

Food: I was still really hungry in the mornings. I was on and off the smoothie train for lunches and was really just eating convivence instead of being as intentional as I had been in the past. Luckily, I still wanted chicken salad all the time.

Doctors Visits: At 16 weeks we were able to hear Baby B’s heart beat. This was a magical moment. It really just sounded like swishing but dang. We have a heartbeat!!!! The doctor told us that our baby was flipping around and moving a ton. Our provider let us know that we would be feeling movement any day now. I could not wait! I was so glad that everything was ok.

Money Spent: We purchased our Crib! This was really our first baby purchase. Buying a crib helped us get more excited and that is when things really started to feel real.

Our To Do List:

  • Start the Nursery
  • Think about my Job
  • Start a baby registry

How as the beginning of your Second trimester? I hear that some women feel great, like they have super energy. Did you feel movement this early? When did you buy your first real baby thing?
